FAQ

Questions

Why does my Mac ask me to confirm each change?

Since macOS 26.4, Finder asks you to approve every change to a file-type or browser default ("Use … / Keep …"). That's a macOS safety feature, so no app can change your defaults behind your back. Defaultify shows each change as pending until you answer.

Why isn't the Mac app on the Mac App Store?

Mac App Store apps must run in Apple's sandbox, which blocks changing link handlers such as mailto:. To support every file type and link, Defaultify for Mac is a direct download, signed and notarized by Apple.

Does Pro on Android also unlock the Mac app?

Not yet. Pro is bought separately on each platform: through Google Play on Android, and on this website for Mac.

Does Defaultify collect my data?

Your defaults, profiles and backups stay on your device. The Mac app has no ads or analytics. The free Android app shows ads through Google AdMob; Pro removes them. Details are in the privacy policy.

Which versions are supported?

Defaultify for Mac needs macOS 14 Sonoma or later and runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Defaultify for Android is available on Google Play.
