Why does Finder ask me to confirm?
Since macOS 26.4, every change to a file-type or browser default needs your approval in a Finder dialog. Click “Use …” to accept. If you click “Keep …”, Defaultify shows that you kept the current app. Re-selecting the current default never asks.
Changing my browser also changed .html files. Is that right?
Yes. macOS links http, https, .html and .htm together, so they always move as one.
Why not the Mac App Store?
The App Store requires Apple's sandbox, which blocks changing link handlers like mailto:, tel: and ssh:. Shipping directly lets Defaultify handle every type. It's still signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
Where is my data stored?
Profiles, backups and Default Guard history are small files in ~/Library/Application Support/Defaultify on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded.
